FIPS compliance

FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) is a set of US and Canadian government standards that define cybersecurity requirements for cryptographic modules. These standards, established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), are designed to protect sensitive information and are categorized into multiple levels based on security requirements.

Buoyant Enterprise for Linkerd provides a build that is compatible with FIPS-140-2 and FIPS-140-3 standards.

These FIPS-compliant builds of Linkerd cover both Linkerd’s control plane and its data plane.
