Sending diagnostics to Buoyant

Buoyant Cloud provides a way to send diagnostic information directly to Buoyant Support, if you are seeing issues with the Linkerd control plane or a proxy.

If you are seeing issues with the Linkerd control plane, you can click the lifebuoy button on the Control Plane page to collect diagnostic information.

The following data will be sent to Buoyant Support:

  • Container logs for all containers in the linkerd namespace
  • Kubernetes pod data for all pods in the linkerd namespace
  • The linkerd-config configmap from the linkerd namespace

If you are having problems with a Linkerd proxy, you can click the lifebuoy button on the Data Plane page to collect diagnostic information.

The following data will be sent to Buoyant Support:

  • linkerd-proxy container logs for the target pod
  • Kubernetes pod data for the target pod
  • Kubernetes node data for all nodes in the cluster
  • Kubernetes service data for the kubernetes service in the default namespace
  • Multiple scrapes of the target proxy’s /metrics endpoint over 1 minute
  • The linkerd-config configmap from the linkerd namespace

Once the diagnostic information has been collected, you will recieve an email from Buoyant Cloud that contains an ID.

Open a support ticket describing the issues you are seeing with Linkerd along with this ID.
